Heading our way is this year’s Global Youth Leaders Tour (GYLT)!
The GYLT is an opportunity for four Atlantic Canadian Youth to visit and connect with an Atlantic NGO or institution and their partners working in the South, and see firsthand the impacts that are being made. This year’s partner institution is the Falls Brook Centre, which you can read more about here.
We asked the youth leaders a few questions concerning their upcoming trip to Honduras, where the tour will be taking place. Youth Leader Drew Dalziel, from Charlottetown, PEI tells ACIC a bit more about the upcoming trip to Honduras as well as herself.
ACIC: Why do you want to do the Global Youth Leaders Tour in Honduras?
Drew: I want to do the Global Youth Leaders Tour in Honduras because I want to be able to learn a new culture and a better understanding in different communities other than my own. Also connect with new people I meet along the way.
ACIC: What are you most excited about for this tour?
Drew: I am the most excited for meeting new people, learning and experiencing new things. And seeing the different projects that are taking place in Honduras.
ACIC: What do you hope to accomplish during your time in Honduras and afterwards in your community?
Drew: What I hope to accomplish in Honduras is help where need be, learn as much as possible to be able to come home and tell my community and what they can do to help.
ACIC: What do you do in your spare time?
Drew: What I like to do in my spare time is play hockey in the winter, coach hockey as well. I like to spend time with my family at my grandparents’ cottage. I spend lots of evening at the Charlottetown Driving Park (Red Shores Racetrack and Casino) and spend lots of time at the beach with friends.
ACIC: What is your favorite quote?
Drew: my favourite quote "Actions speak louder than words."
The tour kicks off July 7-17, 2015!
