About the event
Join the ACIC team in this free training on the prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH), facilitated by Avalon, a Nova Scotia–based not-for-profit organization working to end sexualized violence and support those affected by it.
While ACIC board and staff regularly take part in PSEAH training to stay up to date on this important issue, we’re opening this session to our members and network. This is a valuable opportunity for organizations that work in community spaces to strengthen awareness and build tools for addressing this critical topic.
The training is free of charge and will be offered online on Monday October 6th from 9AM-12PM Atlantic. It will offer foundational knowledge and current information on PSEAH as it relates to both theory and front-line context. Sub-topics will include:
1) What is sexualized violence,
2) How trauma impacts individuals' brains,
3) How to respond to disclosures in a trauma-informed way
4) disclosure reporting requirements in the 4 Atlantic provinces.
If you are interested in attending, please complete this registration form by Tuesday September 23rd. A schedule and agenda will be shared closer to the date, and participants may be asked to complete some brief pre-session homework.
If more than one person from your organization would like to attend, please indicate this as part of your registration, however spaces are limited, and ACIC will continue to assess participation numbers and may limit participation to 1 person per organization depending on level of interest in accessing this training.
Recognizing that this is a difficult topic, participants are encouraged to ask questions/ share any thoughts or needs they may have around taking part in this training.
