About the event
AI for Good
Duration: 2 hrs
AI has incredible potential for tackling local and global issues like climate change and gender equality. However, its potential is only possible when we weigh its risks and negative impacts on our planet and people. We will jump into learning about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and explore case studies on AI for Good. We will also welcome a special guest and speaker from Canada’s Ocean Supercluster to hear how Canada is using AI to address sustainable seafood, clean water, and protect our oceans. And, to wrapup, we will try out an AI for Good framework for our organization.

This workshop series provides a comprehensive introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a focus on its growing influence in the social good sector. As AI continues to evolve, it is increasingly being applied to address critical global challenges, from combating climate change to improving healthcare and advancing gender equality. However, along with its transformative potential, AI also brings new ethical concerns about bias, privacy, and unintended consequences. In this series, participants will explore the history of AI, its current applications, and the importance of developing AI systems that are responsible, fair, and aligned with human values.
Participants will also dive into AI’s role in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through case studies that showcase AI-driven innovations in areas such as environmental sustainability, clean water, and public health. Special attention will be given to how AI is being used in Canada, including insights from experts in the field. Through interactive discussions, practical exercises, and guest speakers, this series equips attendees with the tools to engage with AI thoughtfully and responsibly, and provides a framework for applying AI to create meaningful, positive change within their organizations and communities.
These workshops are now open to anyone who'd like to attend. Please register for the first workshop if you'd like a link to all three workshops, or register individually for the workshops you'd like to attend.
