ACIC Symposium 2023 | Cost of Change: Championing Social Justice, Health, and Wellbeing for All

ACIC Symposium will explore the web of factors that shape our society, and the role money and resources play in both creating disparities and elevating poverty in the world. The Symposium will delve into the complex dynamics of how individuals and organizations can fund change, while championing equity, and exploring the global and local shifts necessary to create a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.

With health being top of mind for individuals, communities and countries, the Symposium will, through a Social Determinants of Health Framework, and with an intersectional lens, explore the non-medical underlying social, economic, and environmental conditions that impact individual and community health and well-being. It will explore youth, Indigenous communities, and local and global perspectives to sustainability and change as we understand the recent acute economic disparities around the world, and its impact on community health. The Symposium will also highlight what Atlantic Canadians are doing to counter this and champion change in their communities.

At ACIC Symposium 2023,  through panels, workshops and diverse speakers, we will explore the cost of change under three themes:

1. International Cooperation and the Cost of Power
2. Climate Change and the Cost of Action
3. Decent Work and the Cost of Exploitation

Which Ticket Should You Buy?

• If you are an ACIC Individual Member, please register for the Individual Associate Ticket. Ticket cost to attend only Symposium: $15.
• If your organization is an ACIC Organizational Member, please register for the Organizational Ticket and mention your organization in the form. Not sure if your organization is a member, see if they feature on this list. Ticket cost to attend only Symposium: $20
• If you are currently a student, or a senior, please register for the Students & Seniors Ticket. Ticket cost to attend only Symposium: $10
• If you are not a member and would like to attend in person, please register for the Non-Member ticket. Ticket cost to attend only Symmposium: $30.
• If you'd like to attend online, please buy the Online Ticket, regardless of your membership status. Ticket cost to attend only Symposium: Free. Please note that workshops may not be broadcasted virtually, depending on the comfort of the facilitators, and technological arrangements.

Want to join us for a night of celebration, networking, with some amazing food and music? Join us for our Gala Dinner on Friday, October 27. The gala is priced at $25 and includes dinner for the night. The tickets can be bought as a bundle with your Symposium tickets (please click on 'View More Price Options' under each ticket type to do so).

About Our Pricing

We recognize that our audience and members are based in the Atlantic provinces, and are therefore part of communities that face housing crises, high rates of inflation and large disparities between minimum and living wages. We are therefore committed to making all our opportuntiies accessible for our members and audiences. ACIC has direct costs of 300 per person, which does not include human resource time, and staff travel or accommodation. To help with keeping costs to attend the Symposium affordable, our tickets are priced at a maximum of 20% of our costs. Charging for the Symposium also helps us keep a tally of our expected attendance and helps us prevent food and resource waste. We truly appreciate your purchase of these tickets. However, if this is not an option for you, we also have measures to make this Symposium further accessible to our members and those who'd like to attend:

• If ticket costs present a barrier, and you would like a bursary ticket, please reach out to us at membership@acic-caci.org.
• ACIC Members (both Individual Associates and Organizational Members) can access travel subsidies to help them with travel costs within PEI or from the four Atlantic provinces.
