Accounting Software Programmer

Uniterra is a leading Canadian international volunteer cooperation and development program, jointly implemented by the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) and World University Service of Canada (WUSC).

Central Dairy Cooperative Association Limited Nepal (CDCAN)'s objective is the betterment of milk producer farmers and their cooperatives. For the sake of it, CDCAN is doing supportive activities like training and development of member organizations and farmers as well on their capacity building, good manufacturing practices in raw milk production and handling, decreasing cost of raw milk production, increasing the productivity etc. and of course it is lobbying for its members' rights in coordination of different other stakeholders.

Position Description:

  • Assess the need of cooperatives and develop an accounting software

  • Test and modify the software if needed;

  • Train CDCAN staff on programming, debugging, installation and operation;

  • Develop the user manual of the software;

  • Consolidate the results, document best practices and participate in the implementation of exit strategies;

  • Ensure the participation of women and youth, as well as their representation, in all activities of and all program benefits; and

  • Write reports required by CDCAN and the Uniterra program.

Qualifications:

  • Degree and/or training in computer programming or a related discipline

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Software Programmer

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-cultural environments

  • Flexibility and adaptability

  • Demonstrated coaching or mentorship skills, including tact and professionalism

  • Written and oral fluency in English

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada between the ages of 18-70.

  • Departure date is contingent upon the timely completion of all administrative requirements (e.g. visa processes, medical clearance, police checks, and travel documentation).

  • With the support of the program, all volunteers shall undertake to make a minimum financial contribution of $1,500 for participating in the program.
