Engineers without Borders is an organization whose mandate is to promote systemic change in both Canada and sub-Saharan Africa, with strong ties to the Sustainable Development Goals and Fair-Trade movement. Each year, they host a national conference where chapter members from universities across Canada come together to learn about and discuss the challenges and solutions for global issues, specifically related to development and equality. This year’s theme is Boundless Citizenship, which strives to inspire those in attendance to engage others on global issues, extend understanding of Canada’s role in international development, and create and pursue opportunities that move individuals to act on their values and care for humanity. Moreover, Lauren will be attending the leadership day available to executive members. This is focused on improving leadership skills to scale their chapter and increase community impact, and offers the chance to contribute ideas to help shape the direction of EWB.
