Each year JERILS, in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, hold the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) conference on Dalhousie campus for students and any interested member of the general public. The conference attempts to create a forum to dicuss the foundations of IHL, and the necessity and application of laws which limit both the methods and means of armed conflict. This year the conference will focus on The Protection of Children in War . Our speaker panel will discuss how IHL protects children in armed conflict, and what actions are being taken by the Canadian Government and International NGO's to ensure the protection of children faced with the reality of war.
There will be coffee and snacks provided before the start of the conference at 3:00pm in the lobby of the law building.
The conference is FREE and open to all members of the public.
