About the event

Celebrate African Heritage Month and International Development Week with ACIC and Connecting to Africa. Join us for a screening of the powerful BBC Africa Eye Documentary 'Dark Waters: Africa's Deadliest Migration Route,' followed by an engaging discussion with Bright Fiaga (International Council for Immigration, Entrepreneurship, and Employment, CIIEE). Mr. Fiaga will be joined by other speakers who will speak to the migration experience. Speakers will share insights into the effect of migration through a social justice lens, and the tragic consequences of illegal migration. They will also explore ways to raise awareness and create pathways for action in home and global communities. Attendees will have the chance to connect with like-minded individuals and community groups working on these critical issues. Connecting to Africa will also touch upon their and CIEE's work in supporting Brain Gain, and fostering opportunities for sustainable development of communities in Africa,
