BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

Networking and Contacts
Membership with ACIC is a great way to network: with individuals, local organizations, Atlantic organizations and National organizations.  Through ACIC you can find out who they are, what they are doing, where they work and what their future events will be.  You can also help others keep in touch with what your organization is doing

Communication
ACIC has an eBulletin that is emailed to members and supporters every two weeks. It keeps you up-to-date on news, job opportunities, events, and much more. We also publish a quarterly newsletter where members can publicize projects and learn about current issues. Member events and opportunities can be also publicized through our website. ACIC acts an information clearinghouse to deal with information requests by the public/media about the international sector and our members.

Professional Development Opportunties

Each year ACIC will hold a professional development workshop in each of the Atlantic provinces (members pay a reduced cost registration for workshops).  Each spring, ACIC holds its Annual General Meeting and Symposium which will include professional development workshops and panel sessions.  These gatherings provide opportunities for peer-to-peer learning, sharing of experiences and best practices, and networking with others in the international development and global education sectors.

Direction
The ACIC is an Atlantic Council created by its members for its members.  The members set directions for the Council’s policy, priorities, and procedures.  ACIC responds to needs defined by people in Atlantic Canada and provides opportunities for individuals to become part of collective response.

Representation on Policy Issues
Representation and advocacy on issues of relevance through ongoing communications with the Provincial/Regional Councils for International Cooperation, active participation in the Canadian Council for International Cooperation (CCIC), and direct communication with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and federal government, as necessary.

Resources
ACIC is able to provide members an informative quarterly Rendez-Vous Newsletter, a video lending library, access to ACIC developed materials, and a diverse resource library.

Support
People in the Atlantic share a vision of justice, equality, ecological responsibility, and sustainable development.  ACIC members are there to support each other.
