International Development Week 2008
February 3-9th, 2008
"Youth Speak for a Better Tomorrow"
For International Development Week (IDW) 2008, ACIC has been dedicated to a project that aims to empower youth to educate others about the issues surrounding the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). ACIC is collaborating with member organizations in each province: Rescue Mission Canada (PEI), the Falls Brook Centre (NB), UNICEF (NS), and Marine Institute International (NFLD).
Youth Make PSA's to Promote the Millennium Goals!
We will be working with students and teachers from four elementary or high schools to create video public service announcements (PSAs) on topics related to the MDGs.
Students will attend a workshop on the MDGs and will learn more about what Canadian organisations are doing with respect to international development and cooperation around the world. They will also work together to create their own short video PSA on a related topic.
With the support of their teachers, a group of youth in each school will produce a 30-60 second PSA raising awareness about the MDGs.
On TV!
These PSAs will begin being broadcast on local television stations during International Development Week and will be shown at events to be hosted by the participating schools.
